For those who seek not a “tourist product,” but a real, working tool for deep reset.
What’s in the program:
Snowy silence, simplicity, and vastness — a space where your own rhythm, energy, clarity, and focus return
High-altitude ice fishing as a form of meditation
Bathhouse ceremonies with steam masters, herbs, and icy plunge pools
The silent beauty of the Altai winter
The crackling stove and conversations that rarely happen “down below”
Honest pleasure from simple processes: chopping wood, grilling fish
Fire, ice, breath, movement, and presence
Arrival in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Meeting at the airport. Departure toward Katon-Karagay with a short stop for a snack along the way.
By dusk or full darkness, we reach Katon-Karagay.
Check-in at a guesthouse, dinner, rest.
Early wake-up and rustic village-style breakfast. Quick packing and departure toward the fishing location.
In winter, the road mesmerizes with its silence and winding tracks disappearing into icy-blue horizons.
By lunchtime we reach the location, where a comfortable winter camp awaits: warm tents, a knowledgeable local fisherman, and everything needed for ice fishing in the most remote corner of Kazakhstan.
We fish for grayling.
Fishing here is unique — white silence, sharp peaks around the lake reminiscent of Fitz Roy, rare local fishermen, and ringing stillness.
We prepare BBQ and a bit of mulled wine made with the signature recipe of a local herbalist.
We end the day watching the sunset melt behind the mountain ridge.
Descent into the valley to a hunting cabin where our hosts await.
The conditions are simple: a stove and a modest minimum necessary for the night.
No electricity, no signal, no people. Only deep taiga silence and the crackling fire.
Hot dinner, including freshly caught grayling. Rest.
If the hunting cabin is unavailable, we stay in a guesthouse in the nearest village.
Breakfast like real fishermen — stove-brewed tea, fresh fish soup, omelet from local eggs.
Departure back to the familiar fishing location.
Another full day inside the meditative process of ice fishing.
A time to be alone with thoughts of the eternal — or simply chat and laugh with friends.
By lunchtime we prepare BBQ, boil a samovar over firewood, or brew tea on a Finnish log stove.
After sunset, we descend to the guesthouse where a hot steam bath awaits with local steam masters.
A deep bath ritual with Altai herbs, infusions, and honey — the way the old believers once practiced in these lands.
Mandatory: icy plunge pool or snow baths.
Dinner in a warm wooden house, the sound of larch logs crackling in the stove, and stories about the quiet, harsh winters of Katon.
Breakfast prepared in the “hermit bachelor” style =)
Packing and departure toward the city.
We drive along the frozen Bukhtarma “sea” and stop for a picnic with views of endless ice expanses.
By evening we arrive in or near the city, check into the hotel, dinner, rest.
Optional: accommodation in a premium countryside complex with an exceptional bathhouse.
